I would like to know how you combine the use of Curvemeister and Nikon Capture NX2.
What is the practical advantage, if any, of doing corrections BEFORE conversion from the native Nikon format, NEF?
Recently I tried using Curvemeister to correct an image which had been converted from the native Nikon format, NEF, to TIFF with BreezeBrowser (not a Nikon product). I couldn't get the TIFF to look as good as the NEF and JPEG versions which came straight from the camera. I assume this is because my Curvemeister skills are lacking. But then again, I don't know what "secret Nikon magic information" is lost once an image is converted from the native camera format by software other than Nikon's...
Thanks!
Nikon Capture NX2 software
Teffy,
For what it's worth....
I use the Adobe Raw converter with the settings zeroed out to convert from .NEF to .Tiff or .Jpeg. I then go into PS or PSE for my adjustments.
The "magic" might be in the settings of the NEF converter from Nikon. Check to see if you have any adjustments being applied in the Nikon converter.
