Hi Tanja,

I right-clicked on the hue clock rectangle and checked "disable pin" and then moved it out of the way. If this option is not active, move the pin and it comes back to life (don't understand this).

By the way, I discovered that control-z will undo the last adjustm...

Thanks Greg, I'll try the steps you suggest.
I don't really have an established interface for black on the left or right, so I'll use your configuration. (Since it's the same as Dan Margulis' it should make his books easier to read!)

Cheers,

Hi Greg,

Thanks for posting the steps you followed to correct this image. I attempted to duplicate them but encountered several problems, some similar to Tanja's, with resultant sentiments similar to Rick's.

I set the white and black points, following your diagrams, a...

Tanja,

Appreciate the larger size of your image, but can also see the degradation of quality. Instead of 1200 wide, try saving at 1100 wide -- it's still large enough to see details, and at that size you should be able to "save for web" as high quality, 63%. See what you think.<br /...

Hi Tanja,

Great articulation of small and large scale detail -- very naturalistic sense of depth from foreground to background. (My versions -- particularly the second one -- look uninterestingly flat in comparison.)
Your colours are certainly striking and attractive. But maybe the...

Second version with adjustments to contrast, brightness, and sharpness. (Less garish, thankfully.)

Greg, I have the same question as Tanja's: do we require a special password to access the video link? If not, I am mis-remembering mine.

Thanks,

Used L curve in CM Lab space to adjust exposure. Set neutral point. Trial and error with a and b curves. Multiply blend mode at around 25%. Sharpen. D and B and healing tools. Smudge tool to reduce banding in the sky. Added small clouds in upper left hand corner to emphasize height of cliff face b...
