I thought I'd visit some old images using some new tools
I used Affinity Panorama to create this image along with CM and a touch of PS.

My understanding is any lens can do it if the camera allows it. With a normal lens the focus length is over 2 feet so getting close is really hard.

Hi Julie, My Nikon 105 can focus down to 13.1 inches. the focal length is fixed so i can get 1:1 in the frame for image ratio. The flowers were cropped but only about 20%. When used at normal distances the 105 is a proper portrait lens for head and shoulders shooting with a really nice bokeh effect....
