Thanks, I'll play with adjusting the mask in CM along with the color image in view.....I think you might have the solution in CM rather than in Ps.

EDIT:

Now that was easy to do in CM....adjust and watch the mask or watch the color image...Just what I wanted...CM is amazin...

I'm copying the text you wrote and will experiment later today...this could be a winner! Thanks.

Doug

EDIT: Brilliant! With any layer mask selected (i.e. in 'focus'), I invoke CM and I can directly adjust the mask with the curve and return the adjusted mask to ...

I have seen (I think) someone adjust the mask in an adjustment (like curves, contrast, etc.) layer by using curves or contrast adjustment....but I can't figure out how to do so except by a brute force iterative solution...there must be an easier way.

Why? Because sometimes a m...

".....and are linked together so that you do not introduce a color shift and they move the same amount. It was built to facilitate the man from mars technique at its origin."

On my system, the L, a, and b curves all rotate independently (useful in many circumstances). But they have neve...

Thanks,

I did not know about how much CM could do with layers and smart objects etc.....will look deeper.

Somehow I was thinking the image detail layers in Ps for hi and lo freq. could be either created with or adjusted with a mask....but now that you mention that Ps uses filte...

I'll comment/question on the simplest and most common usage I have for rotating a curve... create a color layer via CM to blend in Ps layer.

open image in CM,

in a and b, rotate curves CCW by dragging with mouse (handy cursor change to rotate symbol).....to boost sat.<br ...

Suggestion: since frequency separation (FS) is a valuable tool in the arsenal, Can you add some or all of the capabilities to generate the masks in CM?

I realize actions can be done in Ps and FS requires layers and CM may not be able to handle a set of layers....

but mask creat...

Since I use a & b of Lab, in rotation mode...here is another suggestion still along the lines discussed above....

when rotating by mouse drag in a or b curve window, can you show the curve angle (like + or - xx degrees) (and center point of rotation such as x,y)...why?

Bec...
