Thanks for your help with this issue Greg. After studying Mike's method and the links he provided more closely I finally understand how the technique works with PS Elements. It works very well in my opinion, maybe just as well as with the full PS. This is the procedure for those who would like ...

Thanks Greg. I tried it but got stuck bcause I did not fully understand it. I duped the RGB layer and applied a levels adjustment layer and set the green and blue output levels to zero and that gave me a red fingerprint. Then I applied FFT to the Background layer underneath but could not understand...

This is my image after further tweaking in PSE. Increased saturation 10, adjusted levels, increased shadows +5, decreased highlighs -5. Cloned over forehead highlight a bit. Decreased red midones a bit. Still could do with some more work. I thank you all as I have learned so much from looking at all...

Another interesting challenge which was not so easy as it first looked! I did the main tweaking in lab to increase the saturation and improve detail in the leaf while not darkening the insect too much and darkening the light coloured background. I also tried to give the leaf a translucent surreal l...

This is a very difficult one as the colours do not seem to have faded equally across the entire range of shadows, midrange and higlights. I decided to use just CM for the exercise and go by visual judgement. Further retouching could be done in PSE. On my screen it still has a Kodak Eastman brownish ...

I found this picture an interesing challenge. At first I thought it was a nearly imposible task to make it look graphicaly interesting. I am now starting to appreciate the great power of curves. I decided to tweak in lab colour to increase the contrast and darken the shadows around the edges to get ...

I moved the blue slider to get rid of the excess yelow. Adjusted the green slider to improve the colour. Then fiddled with he RGB slider to improve the contrast. Opened in PSE and increase brightness +20 and sharpened USM radus 1 at 100%.

I have a question please. What curve would I use t...

Here is my take. Did it in 2 stages. First moved the rgb curve from the centre a little north west (sorry I don't know how else to describe it). Just experimenting to see what looks good. Saved and then tweaked like this as shown in sreen shot which improved the lilly and darkened and improve...
