Doug you can adjust the mask in CM before you copy it out to a layer.  I do this on most every image.  It is simple and fast.

Henri,<br /><br />the .8bf file is probably in the wrong filters folder.  Look in the Adobe file tree and see if there is a "Pluginsfilters folder" that is not the 'Requiredpluginsfilters".  If there is copy the .8bf there do not move it.  <br /><br />We know CM 3.8.X runs just fine in Win 8.1 ...

Should be better today...We upgraded some of the site software and it appears to have fixed the issue and added a few behind the scenes issues we now have to clean up.
