I tried to bring out colors and detail as if I were there.
Tried to focus on and articulate the contours of the water and falls by suppressing surrounding detail — which required going to B&W, while also changing the “mood” through lighting.
tweaked my first attempt. Aimed for more definition in waterfall. Lightened the shadows a little and tried to tone down the greens that had gone a bit viral
Shadow/Highlight in Lab mode, then apply a and b channels to themselves to boost color, some Lab curves and final sharpening in L channel.
I used CM to fix black and white points and a neutral. Through curves and shadow highlights I brighten the rocks. Later I masked only the closer rocks and brightened. I masked the water to turn it from green to
created and modified a blue mask in CM and then inverted it to allow me to work exclusively in the rocky shadows. These were lightened up in LAB mode and (after exiting and reopening CM for another pass) a bit
Challenge: Brought out shadows and detail, used Curvemeister LAB color space to selectively decrease contrast and at the same time pop colors. I personally like almost surreal color and LAB allows me to optimize saturation while keeping colors essentially as
S&H, followed by Lab contrast bump, no saturation adj
